This sketch truly feels like a dream world, Despite the stark contrast of the warm and cool colors, the focus is actually on the void of the window. Since we usually see something when we look out a window, this feels like a portal to another dimension.

Version 1

My instinct would have been to leave this painting in its original sketch form, but the owner preferred something less ethereal, more comforting. That required more emphasis on the sensory: Billowy folds in the duvet; richer detail in the dog's coat, the addition of land and water in the window to anchor the composition to the real world.

In this version, the room is more defined but still imperfect enough to suggest a dream-like state. The oval "flying saucers" will be hanging lamps.
