Part of my Landscape, Interrupted series, this painting was inspired by a drive along Highway 37 in Northern California. Here the monochrome palette, overturned cone and ethereal clouds lend poignancy to an otherwise ordinary—though slightly askew—call box. It's unclear what, if anything, has happened. Confusion ensues: We don't know whether to feel hope, despair or resignation, calling to mind questions of randomness and faith.
